ABC 57; Malaak Khattab, Reporter, Sep 21, 2020

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – A local South Bend musician partnered with South Bend Venues Parks and Arts to introduce a song dedicated to his hometown.

“It advertises all the great things you could do here, including all the social distant things you could do,’ David Jameson Harris said. “So, it’s really an invitation to come to South Bend, and my hope that by doing that it will increase tourism here.”

It took local musician and songwriter David Jameson Harris two to three months from writing the first version of “South Bend Town” to getting the final track complete.  Harris wrote it in collaboration with other nationally recognized artists and South Bend Venues Parks & Arts.

The song, dedicated to the city of South Bend, highlights sights and attractions from the Riverwalk to Howard Park and even the Potawatomi Zoo.

Starting Monday, Sept. 21 each time the song is streamed on Apple, Spotify or YouTube royalty dollars will be donated to South Bend Parks to benefit local youth, the arts, and Venue Parks and Arts Foundation’s mission.

“I’ve been away for a long time, but every time I come back I see how much it's changing. Harris said. “And in the past decade, its really developed a lot and not just in terms of real estate or the parks, but, in all aspects. I think there are a lot of people who are proud of South Bend and how far it's come.”

Harris will debut his song, South Bend Town at Howard Park on Sept. 21 at noon.
