Twangville: David Jameson Video Premiere – Gone Like the Wind

“From placing second in a Mandarin language singing contest, to doing engineering consulting work across Southeast Asia, to getting inspired at Houston Rodeo. Aside from the latter, that’s not really the life arc of a typical country music singer. It worked its magic for David Jameson, however. His debut album, Tall Dark Pines, is due out later this month.

This is a country music noir record, full of dark tales and outlaw stories. It kicks off with 25 To Life, equating a corporate career with life in prison. The title track is a classic murder ballad, while East Of Eden puts music to the Steinbeck classic spin of the biblical Cain and Abel. One Last Lullaby continues a musical tradition of embedding the “now I lay me down to sleep” prayer in a tale of woe.

The twangiest song on the album is Gone Like the Wind. Banjo emphasizes Jameson’s melancholy state of mind on a past business trip to New York City in the depth of winter. You can hear the yearning for somewhere warmer and less crowded as he realizes that “chasing dreams and money” wasn’t the right path. Ahead of the full record release Jameson has put together a lyric video for Gone Like the Wind, and we’re so pleased to be premiering it here at Twangville.”
