A man was inspired during coronavirus to write a song paying tribute to the town he grew up in.

Musician David Jameson says he wrote the song during the coronavirus pandemic to generate civic pride for the city he grew up in, right here in South Bend.

David Jameson is a musician who lives in Texas. He says he recently came home to South Bend because of the coronavirus.

"I wanted to spend time with my family, all my friends are here, and it gave me a chance to reconnect with the city and why I love it here so much."

David says he was so inspired after being home he wrote the song South Bend Town. He is proud of how much South Bend has changed and he believes for the better.

"I remember in high school I would come down here and write music by the river. It was a nice park, but it wasn't beautiful. Now it's so amazing. I feel like South Bend has done that in a lot of ways."

Each time the song South Bend Town is played it will generate one half of a cent.

"If everyone plays it in South Bend 10 times, a million plays, it will generate $4,000 dollars for the city," said Jameson. "Of course everyone could play it 10 times in just 30 minutes, so play it all day."

All the royalties from the song will go to the South Bend parks department.
